A rut, slump, or just a complete stall in your active life can feel downright uninspiring and sad. Your energy levels plummet and your brain is not releasing the positive endorphins that make you happy. Sometimes, it may feel like you will never be able to fully get out of the rut you have gotten into, but don’t think so fast! It’s easy to get caught up in your own world with no regard to what other people are doing. It may be a good time to step away from your normal routine and thought processes, and dive into a new way of life (even if it is just for a moment). This will not only leave you motivated to turn a new leaf over, but it will give you a fresh perspective on your goals.
Music
This is cheap, and simple. When you get a good playlist going on your iPod, it makes you want to get up and dance (or even get out and run). Inspirational tunes, and words not only make you feel more energized, but they also can get you moving when you may not have wanted to otherwise.
Motivational Images
Do you have that bikini you would love to fit into, or that photo of abs you would love to have someday? Take a look at those images, or items to remind yourself what you want to work toward. With this little push, you may be inspired to go out, and get a mini workout it. Not only will it push you one step further to your goals, but you will also feel more energized and rejuvenated in the process!
Get a Workout Buddy
There is nothing more motivating than knowing you have a friend waiting for you at the gym. You don’t want to sleep in, leaving them high and dry now would you? I didn’t think so. Having a friend who you can workout with not only makes the process more inviting and fun, but it also keeps you on track to achieving your goals. Excuses, and skipping a workout not only will set you back but it will leave your workout buddy without an accountability partner. Another important bonus to having a workout partner is the safety benefits it provides. You will have someone spotting you and talking to you throughout your workout, which should give you a sense of safety. There are plenty of people seeking out a workout partner, go find them!
Precautions
Always know when to listen to your body, and never workout if you are feeling light headed and nauseous. Other than that, try and take a few simple tips from the list above to incorporate them into your life if you are feeling stagnant and need some motivation! Always consult your doctor before jumping into a rigorous routine out of the normal, as it could do more harm than good if you are not careful!
